The Swift Scholarship was established to help remarkable graduate students pursue ground-breaking research initiatives in the biomedical and biotechnological fields. Students who receive the award will be instrumental in advancing human health. If you’re eager to make a difference in these fields, we encourage you to apply for the Swift Scholarship.

Applications are due November 30, 2018.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications from outstanding graduate students carrying out biomedical or biotechnological research. The intent of this award is to advance human health through a graduate students work in these areas.

Applications are due November 30, 2018. We anticipate up to 10 non-compensatory fellowships of $2,000 will be awarded during academic year 2018-2019.

  • Doctoral or master’s students enrolled in a CLAS administered graduate program during the Spring 2019 and Fall 2019 semesters are eligible.
  • Applicants must be carrying out research related to human health, broadly within biomedical or biotechnological research.
  • Students should demonstrate academic excellence, research and scholarly achievements.

Applications are available online.

  • Application information requested includes:
    • Name, ASU ID#, Degree program
    • Student CV
    • Student letter (500 words or less) explaining how their research will help in the advancing of human health and how the research will further knowledge in their discipline.
    • A letter of support from a faculty advisor/committee chair.
  • Application timeline:
    • Applications must be completed and submitted online by November 30, 2018.
    • Announcements will be sent to students by January 4, 2019.
    • Spring 2019 awards will be posted to accounts in early spring.
  • Please be aware that the Fellowship may affect your financial aid package, please contact Financial Aid and Scholarship Services for information specific to your account.
  • The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will hold an award ceremony is the Spring of 2019 to honor scholarship recipients, including the Swift Scholarship awardees.
