Swift Scholarship

The Swift Scholarship was established to help remarkable graduate students pursue ground-breaking research initiatives in the biomedical and biotechnological fields. Students who receive the award will be instrumental in advancing human health. If you’re eager to make a difference in these fields, we encourage you to apply for the Swift Scholarship.

Applications are due October 27, 2017.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications from outstanding graduate students carrying out biomedical or biotechnological research. The intent of this award is to advance human health through a graduate students work in these areas.

Applications are due October 27, 2017. We anticipate up to 8 non-compensatory fellowships of $2,000 will be awarded during academic year 2017-2018.

  • Doctoral or master’s students enrolled in a CLAS administered graduate program during the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters are eligible.
  • Applicants must be carrying out research related to human health, in disciplines including microbiology, chemistry, or organic chemistry to be eligible.
  • Students should demonstrate academic excellence, research and scholarly achievements.

  • Application information requested includes:
    • Name, ASU ID#, Degree program
    • Student CV
    • Student letter (500 words or less) explaining the advance human health and how the award will further research in their discipline.
    • A letter of support from a faculty advisor/committee chair.
  • Application timeline:
    • Applications must be completed and submitted online by October 27, 2017.
    • Announcements will be sent to students by December 1, 2017
    • Statements will be posted to account by December 15, 2017

  • The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will hold an award ceremony in the Spring of 2018 to honor the scholarship recipients, including the Swift Scholarship awardees.
