As part of Arizona State University’s proud commitment to cultural diversity, The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual/Aromantic (2SLGBTQIA+) Leadership Graduate Student Award to recognize students who are committed to valuing all 2SLGBTQIA+ students amongst other sexualities and genders. Multiple awards up to a maximum of $1000 will be given to assist students with research activities surrounding 2SLGBTQIA+ issues or groups AND/OR for participation in leadership activities that serve the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. If your work promotes an enriched diversity with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, we encourage you to apply.

Overview

This award has been established to support students in The College who demonstrate leadership or significant involvement in 2SLGBTQIA+ issues or groups. Multiple awards up to a maximum of $1000 shall provide funds to advance research activities or service activities for at least one graduate student in The College during the academic year.

Applications are due no later than Wednesday, March 13, 2024 for Fall 2024 disbursement.

Eligibility

Recipient must be a student enrolled in a doctoral or masters program administered by one of the academic units of The College during the Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 semesters. The student must be in good academic standing with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.*

Application Process

All applicants who submit a complete set of materials by the deadline will be considered. The College award committee will review applications in accordance with federal, state and university laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Applicants should complete the application form and include in your submission:

  • The General Application Form.
  • CV.
  • An essay describing their research activities, and/or activities demonstrating leadership or significant involvement in 2SLGBTQIA+ issues or groups. This essay should be no longer than 500 words.

Applications are due no later than Wednesday, March 13, 2024 for Fall 2024 disbursement.

Funds are distributed through ASU student accounts. Please be aware that the award may affect your financial aid package; contact Financial Aid and Scholarship Services for information specific to your account. The award will apply to any outstanding balance you may owe to ASU first and any remaining funds will be provided to you via direct deposit or check.
