The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites all first-year students to explore our programs and resources throughout this exciting day of events!

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Check-In
Old Main Lawn
8:45- 9:30 a.m.
Students receive their schedule for the day, prize drawing tickets, a nametag, map and light refreshments.

9:30- 9:45 a.m.
Upper-class students and staff lead small groups to their next location

Dean's Welcome Addresses
Various locations
9:45- 10 a.m.
The College Deans will share remarks and thoughts followed by Q&A.

Upper-class students and staff lead small student groups to their academic unit starting locations

Academic Unit Welcomes
Various locations
10:30 a.m.- Noon
Students spend time with their academic unit:

  • Meet the chair/director, faculty, staff, advisors and upper-class students.
  • Learn about services and resources, ask questions, tour facilities, hear a lecture by an award-winning faculty member, and participate in activities.
  • Have fun!

Students get a complimentary t-shirt and ASU notebook! Submit tickets for the prize drawings and grab a cool treat before walking over to Wells Fargo Arena for the Sun Devil Welcome.

Sun Devil Welcome
Wells Fargo Arena
3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
This is a mandatory event for first-time freshman. The pre-show will begin at 2 p.m. Students, come find out what it means to be a true Sun Devil! ASU President Crow will speak about the exciting opportunities that await you at ASU and you’ll hear more about the amazing class of 2013. Finally, learn the fight song and the fork ‘em Devils sign at this sizzling welcome pep rally.

Whitewash the “A”
Tempe Butte (“A” Mountain)
4:30 – 7 p.m. Immediately following the Sun Devil Welcome
Show your Sun Devil pride by participating in one of the university’s longest standing traditions — whitewashing the “A.” Help celebrate the new school year by painting the “A” white to signify the start of the 2009 fall semester. Show your ASU spirit and have fun with other new students of the Class of 2013! Help kick off the evening with this exciting tradition.

Fall Welcome Concert
Wells Fargo Arena
8 p.m.
The Fall Welcome Concert is a huge party inside Wells Fargo Arena. Join the rest of the new Sun Devils as we get to listen to some of the top bands in the nation!
