The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications from outstanding graduate students who are working on cancer research. The intent of this award is to help support research that will advance knowledge of the disease.

Applications are due April 15, 2021 and funds will be applied to the selected student's account for a fall 2021 disbursement. 

Eligibility

  • Doctoral or master’s students enrolled in a graduate program administered by The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences during spring 2021 and fall 2021 semesters are eligible.

  • Students must be working on advancing cancer research to apply for this scholarship.

  • Students should demonstrate academic excellence, research and scholarly achievements.

Nomination and Award Process

Applications must be submitted online.

  • Application information requested includes:
    • Name, ASU ID#, Degree program
    • Student CV
    • Student letter (500 words or less; footnotes and citations are included in the word count) explaining their interest in cancer research and how the award will further their work in the field. The committee will not read outside sources referenced in the letter nor statements over 500 words; images/graphics should not be included within the letter
    • A letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor/committee chair is submitted separately from the student application and can be uploaded here. All letters should be on department or university letterhead and submitted by the application deadline by the faculty member directly. Applications that do not have a letter of recommendation will not be reviewed. 
  • Application timeline:
    • Applications must be completed and submitted online by April 15, 2021. 
    • Announcements will be sent to students in April or May. 
    • Funds will be available in the fall semester of 2021.
