The BA program in transborder Chicana/o and Latina/o studies focuses on the political, cultural, economic, sociological, historical, psychological and artistic experiences of Mexican-origin and Latina/o populations in the United States and the U.S.-Mexico transborder region. Students will be able to understand the complexities of the Chicana/o and Latina/o experience on the U.S.-Mexico border and beyond, with implications for other border communities around the world.
In the media and expressive culture concentration, students will focus their study on the cultures of Latina/o communities. Students will learn about the cultural diversity of Chicana/o, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Central American and other Latina/o populations in the United States and their contributions to the arts by analyzing:
