Paulette Risher was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army upon her graduation from ASU. She rose through the ranks to become a major general and the first woman general officer to command an Army special operations unit. As deputy commander, Risher was responsible for ensuring the integration of reserve forces into the U.S. Special Operations Command's prosecution of the global war on terrorism.
