Message from the Dean

Dean Kenney imageIt is my honor and pleasure to welcome visitors to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences website. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the academic heart of the university. The vast majority of students pass through the college at some point during their ASU experience. The chairs and directors, faculty and staff of the academic units and research centers are gifted, hard-working and determined to advance the teaching and research missions of the university.

An important goal of the website is to provide you with the information you need about the College’s academic areas, offices and services, as well as an opportunity to begin to understand the diversity and dynamism of the largest college at ASU.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has 18 academic units granting scores of undergraduate and graduate academic degrees and is home to over 20,000 students. Three ROTC units reside in the college and there are nearly 50 research centers actively seeking answers to complex social, scientific and humanistic research puzzles and questions.

The college has been my home for nearly three decades. I am optimistic that the trajectory of the college will meet the time-honored and critical mission of educating citizens who will tackle and meet the challenges of the 21st Century. We have the opportunity to improves the lives of our students and fulfill the potential of our faculty with the support of alumni, parents and friends of the college.
