CLAS First Generation Scholarships

First-generation college students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences may apply for approximately $16,000 in scholarships. These scholarships will be awarded and distributed in the fall 2008 and the spring 2009 semester. Scholarship recipients will be notified by July 30, 2008. 

There are eight different scholarships with varied application criteria. Only one application is required for all scholarships. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

The scholarships listed below are open to students in all majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (approximate scholarship amounts for 2008-09). There are also First Generation scholarships available for students in specific majors.

Please review the criteria for each scholarship before completing the application to be sure that you meet the requirements.

• Carole and Robert Behrens First Generation Scholarship (one scholarship at $1,000)
• CLAS Alumni First Generation Scholarship (one scholarship at $3,000)
• CLAS First Generation Scholarships (3 scholarships at $600 each)
• Dean’s Advancement Council First Generation Scholarship (2 scholarships at $400 each)
• Al and Viola Madrid Endowed Scholarship (2 scholarships at $1,200 each)
• McKee Family Scholarship (one scholarship at $1,200)
• John and Susan Rockefeller First Generation Scholarship (one scholarship at $1,200)

• Tolleson Pathway to ASU Scholarship (one or two scholarships of at least $2,500)

Selection Process

Students must complete and submit all application materials to Michele Daley, CLAS Office of Student and Academic Programs, Fulton Center, Suite 110, 300 E. University Dr., Tempe, AZ 85287-6405 by Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.

The CLAS First Generation Scholarship Selection Committee will select the recipients. Scholarship applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decisions by July 30, 2008 and funds will be distributed for the fall semester.
