Do guests need tickets for the ceremony?
No, tickets are not required for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences ceremony. Doors will open at 7:00am.
Where do I get my cap and gown?
Graduates must wear an official ASU cap and gown during the Convocation ceremony. Tassels are worn on the left at Convocation since degrees were conferred at Commencement. Please make your cap and gown arrangements with the ASU bookstore. Please visit: bookstore.asu for more information.
What time should I arrive at Wells Fargo Arena? Where do we meet?
Students should arrive at Wells Fargo Arena by 7:15am. Graduates will meet in the Arboretum, just north of Wells Fargo Arena in order for their names to be read during the ceremony.
What is the difference between COMMENCEMENT and CONVOCATION?
COMMENCEMENT is the official ceremony where President Crow confers degrees upon ALL ASU graduates. CONVOCATION is a celebratory ceremony where students are individually recognized by the college for their academic achievement. This is the ceremony where your name will be called. For more information on COMMENCEMENT please visit: http://www.asu.edu/graduation/.
Will I get my diploma at Commencement or Convocation?
Diplomas will be mailed approximately 10 weeks after the end of the semester to the permanent address on file with the registrar's office. At Convocation, you will receive a diploma cover.
What if I need special accommodations?
If you (the graduate) need special accommodations or have a disability, please contact clasconvocation@asu.edu so that someone can assist you further.
If one of your guests will need special accommodations, please inform them that they will need to arrive early (doors open at 7am) and staff at Wells Fargo Arena will assist them with special seating. If one of your guests is in a wheelchair there will be special seating at the arena, however as this seating area is limited, the guest may only have one other person with them. The remainder of your party will need to sit in general seating. There is no reservation necessary for the wheelchair seating area, although it is first come, first serve so we do recommend you arrive as early as possible.
Where can I park?
Free parking during the ceremony is available in Structure 5, Structure 7 and Lot 59.
Lot 58 (east of Wells Fargo Arena) is reserved for handicapped/disabled parking. Reservations are not necessary.
