Transfer Courses
Transfer Courses -- In-state public institutions
If you want to transfer courses to ASU from Arizona community colleges and you have no other transfer credits, you should go directly to the advisor in the department of your major. Acceptance of these community college credits by ASU has been pre-negotiated, and the credits will be reflected in the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS). Your department advisor can answer any questions about university, college, or major requirements.
Although most transfer courses from four-year institutions in Arizona have been previously articulated, credits used to fulfill some CLAS requirements must be placed by a Director or Assistant Director in the Office of Undergraduate Programs in the ASU Fulton Center #110. Your department advisor can help determine if there are any courses from NAU or the University of Arizona that require further evaluation.
Transfer Courses -- In-state private and all out-of-state institutions
You must be formally admitted to ASU before your transcripts can be evaluated. After you are admitted, you must request an evaluation of all credits transferred from post-secondary institutions outside Arizona and any in-state private institutions. The CLAS advising office will evaluate the courses you wish to transfer to determine whether they meet ASU's general studies and college graduation requirements. You may request an evaluation of your transfer credits by electronically submitting the form found at http://clas.asu.edu/students/advising/transferform.htm
CLAS also will check for completion of First-Year Composition. If an equivalency has not been posted on the computer system, the advisor will direct you to the First-Year Composition Office in LL 314.
In some cases, mathematics courses must also be evaluated by the First-Year Math Office located in PSA 211. The documentation you provide for their evaluation should include a Course Equivalency form that can be found at http://math.asu.edu/index.html. If, after their review, the math department awards an equivalency to your transfer course, you must then take the paperwork you receive from the First Year Math Office to the CLAS Graduation Office in Fulton Center 110 for posting into the DARS system.
After your full transfer evaluation has been completed, an email will be sent to you and to your department advisor. You should then meet with your department advisor to discuss the results of your transfer evaluation and whether any of your transfer courses can be used toward the requirements of your major. That advisor can then clear you electronically for registration.
