Advising
Academic advisors are the guides to your years of study at ASU. Their first goal is to help you understand what kinds of classes you need to take and how to meet your requirements. They will teach you how to manage your schedule using the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) and help you make the kind of choices that will enrich your education and guarantee that you graduate on schedule. Advisors can help you find special learning opportunities in the classroom, research opportunities with faculty or an internship in the community. They can be your most important resource on campus.
Before you meet with your advisor, prepare for your appointment by running and printing out a current DARS report. Review the DARS and write down all your questions so you don't forget them and bring those questions and your DARS report to your appointment. Show up for your appointment on time and ready to work with your advisor so that they can better serve you.
