Pre-Law at ASU

The term "pre-law" does not designate an academic major at Arizona State University. Unlike pre-med, pre-dental, and certain other pre-professional programs, there are no specific courses of study required of pre-law students.

Law schools do not prescribe particular courses to be taken, nor do they specify undergraduate majors. Law school admission policies do not favor one major over another, provided the pre-law student's chosen major requires substantive course work.

Instead of recommending a single program, the Association of American Law Schools suggests that an undergraduate education develop certain skills, qualities, knowledge, and insights essential to the law student and ultimately to the professional.

On Friday, October 19, 2007, you can speak to representatives from over 100 law schools at the Law School Fair. The pre-law week leading up to Friday event has many activities for pre-law students as well. Be sure to attend these forums as well!
