Law School Admissions

Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS)

ABA-approved law schools require applicants to subscribe to the LSDAS. The purpose of LSDAS is to provide a centralized, standardized service to allow law schools to compare academic records from undergraduate schools that employ various grade point systems. Overall, this service is meant to simplify the law school admission process.

LSDAS prepares a report for each law school to which an applicant applies. The report contains the following:

  • A summary of the applicant's undergraduate academic record.
  • Copies of all undergraduate, graduate, and law school/professional transcripts.
  • Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) scores and LSAT writing sample copies.
  • Copies of letters of recommendation (those processed by the Law School Admission Council [LSAC]

Law schools review the report in addition to the application, personal statement, and letters of recommendation sent directly to the law schools. Ultimately, such a service allows law school admission committees more time to carefully evaluate applicants.

The LSDAS registration form is included in the LSAT/LSDAS Registration and Information booklet. You can also register online or over the phone. LSDAS registration is a five year subscription service.

LSAT/LSDAS Registration and Information contains pertinent information about law school admissions: the LSAT, LSDAS, and the process for requesting transcripts, letters of recommendation, and LSDAS law school reports. It also contains various forms, from transcript request cards to renewal forms. This is an extremely helpful booklet. Visit your pre-law advisor to pick up a copy.
