Investment Opportunities
The college's top priorities include supporting undergraduate students with scholarships and helping to ensure that all students with academic potential have access to higher education. The following targeted scholarship programs are designed both to increase students' access to ASU and to enhance their success once enrolled.
Student Support
Dean's Circle Scholarships
The college's best and brightest students are recognized by their schools and departments with the merit-based College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Circle Scholarship. These scholarships recognize approximately 35 students who have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and have excelled in their undergraduate degree programs. Many of the students are earning more than one undergraduate degree and have plans to go on to graduate school.
First-Generation Scholarships
Approximately one-third of the freshmen at ASU each year are first-generation college students. National studies show that these students are twice as likely to leave school before their sophomore year, are more dependent on financial aid and more likely to be employed while attending school. Scholarships targeted to these hard-working students help ease the financial pressure, allowing them to focus on academics and become involved in campus activities.
Undergraduate research scholarships
Providing opportunities to collaborate with faculty on research is among the best ways to increase students' satisfaction with the college experience. It also helps students develop critical-thinking skills and a professional mindset. Undergraduate Research Scholarships support student participation in faculty research, creative activities and travel to professional conferences.
Department Scholarships and Fellowships
Most academic units in the college have less than $6,000 in scholarships each year to award to deserving majors. Support directed to one or more of the college's schools, departments or programs enables them to increase merit- and need-based undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships to support talented students. If you are interested in supporting a department scholarship or fellowship, you may consult the scholarships Web page for a list, or consider donating to the Dean's Circle Scholarships as outlined above.
