| What is the PEER Project? The Peer Engagement to Enhance Retention or PEER Project is based on a simple idea, to engage the enthusiasm, creativity, and community spirit of every major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in building a community of learning and discovery that is at once challenging and supportive. When you make a commitment to the PEER Project you are pledging to become actively involved in student success --- your own, and that of your peers. We recognize that every student has unique talents, skills, and ideas to contribute and that the level of commitment must reflect your already busy schedule. Regardless of how large or small your contributions are, every act is important and potentially transformative. PEER is as much about individual attitude and collective atmosphere as it is about any particular kind of activity. Be proactive helping a classmate. A few uplifting words to a discouraged classmate may make the difference in whether they succeed in their dream. Organize a few classmates for a study session for a test. Get involved in one of more than 500 clubs and organizations on campus. Participate in a peer mentoring program in your major. Find a faculty member who shares your interests and conduct original research. Our vision is to unleash the talent, energy, and good will of our fantastic student body and then watch the successes multiply. What do you get out of committing yourself to PEER? A line on your resume. Special recognition when you graduate. And the deep personal satisfaction of knowing that you are part of the solution. That you are making a difference in the lives of your classmates. That you are part of building a community in which we can all achieve our dreams. Think of PEER as a kind of peace corps for student success. Joining the PEER Project is easy. Just click the button below to let us know that you have made a commitment to yourself and to the college to be involved. This will add your name to the growing list of involved students so that we can acknowledge you at the college convocation. We will contact you from time to time with PEER success stories, events and information. Finally, as you enjoy successes, share them with us. We would love to learn what you have done, how you have helped other students, or how you have been helped by your peers or that one special classmate. By sharing our stories we will inspire others and plant seeds of many other successes to come.
