Academic champs take to the gridiron
The ASU 2008 Academic Bowl championship team from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is showing off the President’s Cup that was presented by President Michael Crow during halftime at the Nov. 28 ASU-UCLA football game.
The defending champions earned the trophy and $22,000 in prizes and scholarships after defeating the Herberger College of the Arts in the final round of the 2008 Academic Bowl Oct. 30.
College team members, whose names appear on the President’s Cup, are: captain Carlos Ross, a senior majoring in Japanese; Erin Hutchinson, a senior majoring in history; Kenneth Lan, a sophomore majoring in biology; Mary Beth Hutchinson, a sophomore majoring in history and religious studies; Meghan Getz, a senior majoring in political science; Taylor Conroy, a junior majoring in biology; Lauren Romero, a junior majoring in history; and Carolyn Moss, a junior majoring in history.
The team coach is Brian Gleim, a graduate student in astrophysics.
