A Quartet: Celebratory Poetry Reading featuring ASU students and alumni
Tuesday, Nov. 3, 7 p.m.
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: English
Changing Hands Bookstore (6428 S McClintock Dr) Tempe, AZ,
What happens when a person loses hope but still wants to make art? Poet Kate Greenstreet would like her new collection, "The Last 4 Things" (which includes a DVD of two short films), to be read as if it were a found object, like something left on an empty bus seat--not a document addressing the question “Why do we make art?” but acknowledging the fact that we do make art, despite conditions, whether it’s a photograph or a simple stick drawing in the dirt. Also tonight, three award-winning poets: "42 Opus" editor and ASU English alumna Elizabyth Hiscox (MFA 2006), author of "Inventory from a One-Hour Room;" current MFA student Rose Swartz, author of "Things I’ve Left Between;" and alumnus Douglas Jones (MFA 2006), author of "No Turning East." NOTE: This reading notice is provided as a courtesy; the event is not sponsored by ASU English.
Free of charge and open to the public.
