8th Annual International Wine & Beer Festival
SAVE THE DATE! ~ Saturday, April 21, 2007 ~ 4:30 -7:30 p.m. ~ Old Main, ASU's Tempe campus
Enjoy an evening with ASU alumni, staff, faculty, students and friends at the 8th Annual International Wine and Beer Festival hosted at ASU’s historic Old Main.
Guests to the event will sample a variety of excellent international wines and beer, enjoy live music while sampling delicious hors d’oeuvres, provided by premiere restaurants from around the Valley. Be a part of an exciting collection of silent auction items, including a "DJ For a Day" package courtesy of Clear Channel Radio, a beach-front vacation rental in Rocky Point, Sparky at Your Party, autographed sports memorabilia from teams such as the Denver Broncos, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Miami Dolphins, and more!
This exclusive event, held only once a year, was created to fund scholarships for students from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Two $1,000 scholarships will be announced this year, and the goal is to raise enough funds to fully fund the endowment at a level which will allow the scholarships to be awarded each year thereafter. Proceeds from the event will also support a first-generation scholarship endowment.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be obtained online or by check (made payable to the ASU Foundation).
Please contact Joyce Olive at 480-965-8151 or jmolive@asu.edu for more information.
Sponsorship and silent auction opportunities are still available! If you are interested in sponsoring this important event, please contact Josh Aylesworth at 480-607-8858 or josh_aylesworth@ml.com. Thanks to all the alumni and friends who participated in the Annual Books & Bears Drive to benefit Valley first graders and other organizations for children in need this year. This year, the CLAS Alumni Chapter and Leadership Council made a generous donation of 25 books and bears to the holiday drive. This annual program makes an impact on our community by assisting children develop a love for a lifetime of reading.
CLAS Cares
The CLAS Alumni Chapter expanded its community service initiatives to include a minimum of one community event per semester. CLAS CARES is the name of the program designed to bring alumni and student leaders together for events that advance the College’s presence in the community as well as provide important networking opportunities. This semester’s event was held on December 4 at the studios of KAET/Eight during their December pledge drive.
The extraordinary volunteers answered viewer calls and helped raise nearly $100,000 for public television programming. The best part of the evening was the representation! We are grateful for the opportunity to have shared an incredible evening with nine different staff, alumni, and student groups: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Alumni Chapter, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Alumni Leadership Council, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Ambassadors, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Council, School of Global Management and Leadership Alumni Chapter, College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences Alumni Chapter, Hugh Downs School of Human Communication, Arizona State University Alumni Association Staff (Tempe Campus) and the Family and Human Development Graduate Student Association.
The CLAS Alumni Chapter is tentatively scheduled to do another pledge drive in March 2007. If you are interested in joining our charismatic community service group, please send an email to clasalumnichapter@yahoo.com.
