About the Chapter Members
Teresa Anderson graduated from Boston College Law School in May 2006 after graduating from ASU, and returned to Arizona to work downtown at Snell & Wilmer. Her practice is concentrated in commercial litigation. Additionally, she received an MA in History (with an emphasis in American Legal History) from Boston College Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
Marc Beasley, a recreation coordinator oversees the budget, staff, climbing wall, gymnasium, Kids' Club, and rentals/reservations for the Red Mountain Multigenerational Center in Mesa. He worked for the City of Mesa for 22 years starting as a basketball coach at Carson Junior High when he was a junior at Westwood High School. Marc volunteers with various non-profits in the East Valley (Save the Family, Child Crisis Center, Goodwill), serves on two Mesa Public School District-based advisory boards (Service-Learning and Mesa Youth Placement Service), and serves as the Assistant Director with the MLK Basketball Classic.
Joseph Behrens received his BS in Human Resource Management in Business from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992 and his Master of Higher Education Administration from Arizona State University in 1999. Since 1992, he has worked in corporate and higher education settings, has been involved in the community as a volunteer, owns a real estate LLC and has been on the Board of Directors for three non-profit organizations. Currently he is the Assistant Development Officer for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving for the College of Liberal Arts & Science at Arizona State University and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association.
Destiny Crider is working on her doctoral degree at ASU in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change (SHESC). Her research is focused on Pre-Hispanic Central Mexico, specializing in ceramic analysis and chemical sourcing strategies. She's currently working at the Archaeological Research Institute at Arizona State University as a Research Associate focusing on web design, data base management, public outreach and education. Destiny is also employed with the Cerro Portezuelo Ceramic Analysis project in SHESC. In addition to her research duties she has been involved with upper level administrative positions in the Graduate and Professional Student Association at ASU. She continues to volunteer with the Association as the Chair of the Graduate Student Center Advisory Board.
Tiffany Erickson is public relations specialist for Snell & Wilmer, where she advises the firm’s 400 attorneys on business development efforts, as well as community visability, using the media as a marketing tool. She collaborates on all aspects of public relations for Snell & Wilmer’s six regional offices, developing and implementing the firm’s integrated public relations and marketing strategy. Before working in professional services, Ms. Erickson worked in textile and trade legislation in Washington, D.C. Tiffany is a member of many civic organizations and is special advisor on the Volunteer Lawyers Program Advisory Board – who awarded her the Public Relations Support Award in 2005.
Gabriel Escontrías, Jr. currently serves as the Manager of Academic Personnel in the Dean's Office for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University. He previously served as Coordinator of the Memorial Union Programs and Activities and has also worked with the Associated Students of Arizona State University, Undergraduate Admissions, and the Hispanic Research Center. Mr. Escontrías is a double alumni of Arizona State University as he holds both a B.A. in Sociology from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and an M.Ed. in Higher and Postsecondary Education from the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education. Mr. Escontrías currently serves on the boards of the ASU Chicano/Latino Faculty and Staff Association and the Arizona Chapter of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
Paul Grillos currently serves as the Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Arizona State University. In this capacity, he advises graduate students, coordinates new student recruitment/admissions, and organizes various department events including a faculty speaker series. He previously served as an undergraduate academic advisor in the W.P. Carey School of Business and as the Coordinator of Admissions at Central Arizona College. In May 2007, he graduated with an Ed.D. in Higher/Postsecondary Education from the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education. He aspires to higher level administrative positions within a university setting.
Jessica Irwin has spent the past 12 years in the social services field, directly working with children with developmental disabilities, many of whom have Autism Spectrum Disorder. Throughout college, she provided services to these children as a Habilitation Provider and worked her way up to a Lead Teacher, Program Manager and eventually to Program Consultant. In 2002, she founded S.E.E.K. Arizona, an agency that provides professional therapies, interventions, and support services to children with developmental disabilites. As Director and Owner, she continues to drive the agency forward, expanding it's center-based programs to include classrooms, social groups, special interest groups, and community trainings. In addition to running the agency, Jessica is working on her Master's in Counseling and Board Certification in Behavior Analysis.
Milissa Hutloff Koehler is a double alumna of the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University. She holds a B. A. in Communication from the Hugh Downs School and obtained her Master's degree in Communication in 2005. In April 2005, she received the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award for her efforts as a director-at-large with the College of Public Programs. Milissa has also served on the ASU Alumni Association's Founder's Day Committee. Milissa lives in Phoenix with her husband and their small clan of "future Sun Devils " and operates a consulting business, Above C Level.
David Lorti is currently a realtor with Re/MAX Anasazi Realty here in the Valley. After working in marketing and business operations for companies like Conoco, Compaq Computer, and Intel, he decided to leave the corporate world and pursue his interest in real estate in Arizona. On a personal level, David's greatest interests are his wife, Jessica, and two wonderful daughters, Elizabeth and Candace. David spends time volunteering for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and also enjoys running, bicycling and duathlons, as well as reading.
Johnathon Nelson worked as a stage technician for ASU's dance department from 2006 to 2007 and earned his Political Science degree in 2007 from ASU. Since then he has become a Senior Member in the US Civil Air Patrol, a volunteer organization which conducts Search and Rescue missions, and operates a cadet program which is similar to the Boy Scouts or JROTC. Johnathon is currently taking Microeconomics through ASU in hopes of eventually obtaining an MBA.
Carole Redden earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Arizona State University and began working as a Live-In Group Home Manager with five children who were wards of the court. While working with children to make positive life changes, she realized her passion for inspiring personal and social change could be developed by working with students at the college level. Before completing the Masters in Communication Studies from ASU at the West Campus, she began teaching college success and general education courses for a local private college. She has worked as an Adjunct Faculty Member for the community colleges since 2001, and more recently worked with a local college as an Academic Program Director for the General Education Department. Carole returned to her academic roots, accepting her current position of Academic Advisor in the Department of English at Arizona State University.
Patricia Seguin is the Community Outreach Director for the Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County. Her responsibilities and goals include improving communication between the courts and the community, increasing diversity awareness within the judicial branch, enhancing and improving public access to the court. Patricia is developing outreach programs that will help educate the public about the judicial branch and the public services it offers. Patricia’s career in law and the courts began shortly after her 1998 graduation from Arizona State University, when she began working with the State Bar of Arizona as a deputy clerk. In 1999, Patricia moved to the Supreme Court of Arizona to serve in the attorney discipline division, where she was progressively given more responsibility over the next several years, until she was appointed Disciplinary Clerk. In this capacity, she oversaw and managed the formal attorney discipline process. Patricia became Community Outreach Director in April, 2006. She is a member of the Commission on Minorities in the Judiciary and is a public member of the Board of Certified Court Reporters and Building Blocks Governing Board.
Kori Sonderland has worked as an Executive Assistant in Los Angeles, San Francisco and most recently Scottsdale for the past ten years. She has been supporting CEO's of Private Equity firms, supporting Chairman's in their Executive Offices and currently supporting the CEO of an Executive Planning of Incentives & Conferences (Meeting Planning) Company. She received her Masters of Arts in Psychology in 2004 and is in the process of completing hours to become a Marriage and Family Therapist.
Amy Whatley is Director of Network Real Estate Development with John C. Lincoln Health Network. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the ASU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In 2004, Amy achieved a Certificate of Construction Management through the Ira A Fulton School of Engineering/Del E Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and local Chapter.
Amy actively works with community and professional organizations including the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University Alumni Chapter as Past President. Previously, Amy served on the CLAS Alumni Leadership Board, CLASWorks Advisory Board and as a fundraiser for Brokers for Kids. She is presently a Sun Devil Club Ambassador and also serves on the Arizona Commercial Real Estate Women Board of Directors while continuing committee service with the CREW Careers Building Opportunities and the CREW Scholarship Program committees.
Darrick Zahlmann provides creative design ideas in the areas of income tax, estate and gift tax planning at RG Capital, LLC. He is also adept in the areas of asset accumulation and preservation planning. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University, Darrick began his financial services career with Merrill Lynch. He is currently a candidate for the Certified Financial Planner designation, and continues to be very active in the financial services industry in Phoenix and beyond. He works with numerous local attorneys and accountants to help coordinate and impact the financial lives of his clients. Darrick is a native of Rockland County, New York and currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona. He enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends in addition to being a board member of two charities (Future for Kids, Scottsdale, Arizona & Freedom Is Not Free, San Diego, CA).
